The interdisciplinary exhibition "EMBEDDED ART - Art in the name of security" directly interrogates the issue of how contemporary society has been and continues to change in response to threats of global insecurity. For EMBEDDED ART, an exhibition consisting entirely of 41 new works, the 52 participating artists worked on location at defence research facilities, special forces training sessions and with experts in "future security". Commissioned artists include designer Jonathan Barnbrook, conceptual artist and sculptor Timm Ulrichs, photographer Christina Zück and sound theorist and dubstep pioneer Steve Goodman.

The exhibition is complemented by programme of performances, tours, debates and film screenings, taking place in the temporary bar 'Bar zur inneren Sicherheit' on the top floor of the Akademie, overlooking Pariser Platz and Brandenburg Gate.

A catalogue published by Argo Books, including specially commissioned essays, accompanies the exhibition.
